ST. CLOUD, Minn. – This week, Ann Matvick – program director at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Minnesota – was honored with a national award at the annual Big Brothers Big Sisters of America National Conference in Anaheim, Calif.
Matvick – who celebrated her 26th anniversary with BBBS of Central Minnesota this fall – was the 2023 recipient of the Brick Award for Program Staff Person of the Year. The award is presented annually to a program staff person who has gone above and beyond to achieve high quality matches and serve more volunteers and children.
This marks the second straight year that BBBS of Central Minnesota was honored for the quality of matches and growing its programs to serve more local youth. At the 2022 national conference, thanks to Matvick’s leadership and work the agency took home the Gold Standard Award, which recognizes agencies that have increased both their revenue and the number of matches in the program.
In the 2022-23 school year alone, Matvick helped implement a new school and site-based program at Holdingford, teamed up with Granite Partners to get the BIG Partners initiative under way, and to the Dr. Potter Bigs on Campus initiative by adding matches at the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University. Starting in Fall 2023, a third site will be added to the initiative at St. Cloud Technical & Community College.
Under Matvick’s direction, BBBS of Central Minnesota serves more than 400 local youth each year.
