Big Futures is a movement. Rather than just one BBBS program, Big Futures embodies a network of programs that empower every youth on the path to graduate with a plan for their future and a mentor whose impact will last a lifetime.
Big Futures is a college- and career-readiness initiative designed to equip youth for post-secondary success through mentoring, education and access to key opportunities.
Big Futures Includes Initiatives Such As:
Dr. Potter Bigs on Campus Mentoring Initiative: Bigs on Campus allows middle and high school students who may not have otherwise had the opportunity to get on a college campus right here in Central Minnesota, explore future career, trade or enlistment options and learn from local professionals.
BIG Partners: A new mentoring initiative that pairs high school mentees referred to BBBS by their teachers or school counselors with mentors from the Granite Partners. They meet twice monthly to learn about building their resume, tour local colleges and businesses, and learn more about their options after high school.
High School Bigs: As our High School Bigs are mentoring elementary and middle school Littles, they also receive supplemental coaching to support their post-secondary goals.
College & Career Readiness: We equip youth with the life skills needed to achieve post-secondary success. This is done by:
- offering hands-on career exploration activities
- 1:1 match support - creating goals
- 1:1 support with completing job applications and providing a reference
- 1:1 support with completing college applications, scholarship applications, and providing a reference
- 1:1 support with completing the FAFSA
By extending the match relationship into the transitional years of young adulthood, Big Futures provides Littles with stability, support and guidance as they begin to expand their knowledge of the larger world and find their unique place within it.
