ST. CLOUD, Minn. – As part of The Starbucks Foundation’s Neighborhood Grants program, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Minnesota was selected to receive a $2,000 grant.
This grant award is thanks to a nomination from Cheyanna Gohman from the Starbucks on Division Street in St. Cloud. Cheyanna recognized the work of BBBS in the St. Cloud area with a focus on one-to-one mentorship for local kids.
Through this unique program, The Starbucks Foundation invites Starbucks partners and alumni to nominate a local organization in their community. Since 2019, more than 13,000 grants have been awarded to local organizations, amounting to more than $20 million. In 2024, BBBS of Central Minnesota was selected from among 33,000 nominations submitted by Starbucks partners earlier this year.
The grant from The Starbucks Foundation will help BBBS of Central Minnesota enhance its match activity opportunities for Bigs and Littles. Each month, the agency plans two to three activities for matches to attend together, and by growing those offerings, more matches are able to participate and build life-long memories together.
“We are so grateful to community partners like Chey and our local Starbucks who recognize the importance of supporting local nonprofits like Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Minnesota,” said BBBS of Central Minnesota Executive Director Jackie Johnson. “It takes a village to raise a child, and we are proud to live in and work with some of the best partners and supporters around.”
The Starbucks Foundation’s Neighborhood Grants program supports grassroots, community-led nonprofit organizations through catalytic investments in the form of grants. Neighborhood Grants also help build sustained local impact and inspire increased partner engagement with nonprofit organizations that work in their communities.
