Advancement Director Position Description
For 55 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Minnesota has been creating meaningful, professionally supported, one-to-one mentoring relationships between Bigs (adult mentors) and Littles (local youth) in a five-county service area – and has been recognized both nationally and at the local level for its growth and innovative approach to mentoring. BBBS is recognized as the top one-to-one mentoring program in the country, and the Central Minnesota agency is poised for the Advancement Director to come in and elevate the agency's fundraising structure and stature in the community. From networking to professional development opportunities across the Midwest, the tools are in place for the Advancement Director to grow as a professional while they grow the agency's portfolio.
Position Description: The Advancement Director is responsible for overseeing all fund development and supporting the Executive Director in creating an annual plan to increase voluntary revenue. This position will oversee corporate and individual giving, agency fundraising events, donor stewardship, and the database system. It also supervises the agency's three-person Advancement Team, which supports the agency's work to recruit volunteers and maintain mentor/mentee relationships. The Advancement Director plays a key role on the agency's leadership team, which makes the strategic decisions to keep the agency moving forward.
Job Responsibilities:
- Create the agency's overall annual strategy for fundraising and the necessary steps and materials to execute the plan
- Research, identify, cultivate, and maintain positive and engaging relationships with both individual and corporate donors and prospects
- Oversee timely and comprehensive data entry and management of donor information
- Oversee the agency’s Advancement Team (3-5 staff)
- Work to identify new fundraising event opportunities and oversee current events
- Represent BBBS at community events in various capacities
Job Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum five years of donor/customer relations experience OR equivalent experience without a Bachelor's Degree
- Demonstrated success in donor management (individual and corporate), including cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and planned gifts
- Experience with planning and executing major fundraising events
- Experience working with a board of directors and managing an advancement team
- Must have a valid driver’s license, means of transportation, and meet program required auto insurance minimums

- $60,000-$75,000 annually
